And a song sound byte from our guide, Bharat!

This morning we left Forest Camp after breakfast and covered the 9+ kms to Pitam Deurali in pretty good time. It was definitely a “forest bathing” style walk as we first ascended up to the main ridgeline past the junction where we had walked up from Landruk, taking instead the path to the left toward Pitam Deurali. We then walked along the descending contours through very lush cloud/rainforest past “Lovely Hill” and into Pitam Deurali. The guesthouse here – the “Hotel Super Top View”- has lovely garden and views on both sides of the ridge.

Along the trail today, Bharat (who it turns out is a very talented singer, songwriter, and community activist) shared a song he wrote (as a teenager) about the difficult life of a porter. Click the sound files below to hear Bharat describe the song, and then to listen to two parts of the song.
