Subtitle: A change in itinerary

Ok back on wifi.. well we are very excited to have spent a lovely day in warmer temps and the beautiful medieval city of Bologna, Italy exploring and setting out our next walk. We took a longish bus ride to get here yesterday from Chamonix. And tomorrow we will set off early from the Piazza Maggiore on the Via degli Dei (Path of the Gods) walking route from Bologna to Florence through the Tuscan Emilian Appenines, and an ancient Roman road built in 187 BCE.

Why this one? We were originally booked on another Swiss/French Alps hike (the Haute Route), but have decided that the continued unsettled weather and unseasonably cool temps coupled with the challenge of the TMB daily ascents and descents warranted a change to a more moderate option with some interesting terrain and historical curiosity. Isn’t it great to be flexible? So stay tuned as I post about the Via degli Dei!

Early breakfast at Chamonix campsite yesterday. Gotta catch a bus!
Settle in for some audio books!
Bologna pics
Ali in the Alley.. authentic pizza lunch spot
Beautiful narrow alleyways
The cathedral in the Piazza
Shady courtyard, map, phone, wifi connection, and a good set of reading glasses: all you need these days to plan a hike!

Oh Ang and Ali! Flexibility is key isn’t it? Good idea to switch to milder climes and a little more site-seeing. I am in awe of Ali’s sun dress and hiking shoe combo. She can glam it up that one!

Those streets and alleyways that were built without even the faintest idea of a CyberTruck. Europe is so old and wise. Have been back and forth to our campsite at Tunkwa Lake so always look forward to your updates when I get back in cell range.
