Angus' Travel Notes and Pictures

A webpage of Angus' cycling trip in 2022 along the Western Front (1914-1918) and Angus and Alison's walking tour of the Tour de Mont Blanc, Via degli Dei, the Dobratsch Circuit in Carinthia, Austria, the Dolomites, Venice, and Iceland

Yesterday a first day riding to meet the WFW riders by Saturday. The weather cleared and a fabulous ride along bike paths out of Zurich (thank you Mapquest!) and along the Rhine cycle path (part of the amazing Euro Velo system) and then NW along highway 3 toward Basel. Only one significant pass to climb from Brugg, a gorgeous ancient village on the river Aare. On a long uphill climb, it became very apparent how much stuff I should have left at home! But mostly a lovely ride through rolling farmland and beautiful scenery along the Rhine. Sad news this morning RIP HRH.

You are off to a great start Angus! The cycle paths sound great. Minimum traffic and maximum quiet beautiful scenery. Xo

Gorgeous sky Angus! Sounds like day one of the ride offered a glimpse into the rolling hills to come. Yes, dear Queen will be so missed!
