Walking in Europe

A blog of Angus and Alison's walking tour of the Tour de Mont Blanc, Via degli Dei the Dobratsch Circuit in Carinthia, Austria, the Dolomites, Venice, and Iceland

A very challenging hike yesterday from Les Houches, up up over the Col de Voza past all the ski hills and mountain tramway across the foot of Glacier de Bionnassay and then up up again over the Col de Tricot and down a steep ravine to Refuge de Miage just as the rain started! 15km, but felt like 30! We were supposed to “bivouac” in the field and get our meals at the refuge. But we determined that beds were available so booked in on the spot! Dinner in front of a warm fire and comfy bed were so appreciated!

The Start!

Wowser! Lots of climbing! Your quads and hamstrings will be working hard! Awesome scenery and great pictures! Nice to hear you got a bed rather than sleeping on “the hard”. xoxox

Thanks, Di. We are still talking about the welcome bed and dinner at Miage. Huge omelette, soup, fresh bread, and wild blueberry (like our huckleberries) pie! All by a warm fire and warm hosts.
